Toy Cleaning and Storage Essentials
Clean toys are safe toys. Good care protects your health and makes your products last longer. This guide shows how to clean and store toys by material, in simple steps.
Basic Cleaning Steps
- Remove batteries or unplug where possible.
- Wash with warm water and mild, unscented soap or a dedicated toy cleaner.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Dry with a clean cloth or air dry fully.
By Material
- Silicone, glass, stainless steel, ABS: non-porous, easy to wash. Silicone, glass and steel can usually be boiled or washed in a dishwasher if the maker says so.
- TPE, TPR, jelly: porous. Wash gently, never boil, and use a condom when sharing.
- Electronics: only waterproof toys can be fully submerged.
What to Avoid
- Harsh chemicals, bleach or alcohol on soft materials.
- Scented soaps that irritate sensitive skin.
- Sharing between body areas without cleaning.
Storage Tips
Store each toy separately in a breathable pouch or box. Keep them away from heat, sunlight and other toys, because some materials react with each other.
